SAHM BAZARGAN
OAK PARK
Bazargan won the Ventura County Championships at Lake Casitas in October with a time of 15 minutes, 25 seconds, which led Oak Park to the team title. The same scenario occurred at the Tri-Valley League finals with Bazargan winning in 15:42. He helped the Eagles advance to their first-ever state meet appearance with a fifth-place clocking of 14:27 on Mount San Antonio College's rain course. Bazargan turned in a time of 15:38 at the CIF State Championships in Fresno, good for seventh place. The junior enjoys biking, skateboarding and skiing. His favorite singer is Kendrick Lamar. His top movie is "The Hurricane," and his favorite TV show is "Family Guy." Bazargan lists kebab as his favorite food. Middle-distance runner David Rudisha is his favorite athlete and the Memphis Grizzlies are his favorite team.

CHRIS COSTA
WESTLAKE
Costa helped lead the Warriors to a state Division 2 championship — the first in school history — with a time of 16:01 at Woodward Park in Fresno. He was 33rd on the Mount SAC rain course in 14:45. Costa was 11th at the Ventura County Championships in 15:58 and placed in ninth in the Marmonte League finals in 15:53. His best time of year was 15:36 at the Mount SAC Championships. The 6-foot, 148-pound junior is a scholar-athlete and is taking three advanced placement classes. His hobby is filmmaking and his favorite movie is "Schindler's List." Instead of a favorite band or singer, Costa lists film composer Joe Hisalski. He enjoys eating sushi, watching "MythBusters" and the Boston Celtics. His favorite athlete is Ray Allen.

MIKEY GIGUERE
WESTLAKE
Giguere won the Marmonte League championship for the second year in a row with a time of 15:21. Led by the 5-foot-6, 120-pound junior, Westlake won the league, CIF-Southern Section and state Division 2 championships. Giguere was seventh in the sectional championship at 14:18 on Mount SAC's rain course, and took 20th at the state meet in Fresno 15:48. Giguere is a scholar-athlete with a 3.8 GPA. He enjoys watching the Lakers, and fantasy basketball is a hobby. His favorite movie is "Good Will Hunting" and "Two and a Half Men" is his top TV show. He enjoys lasagna and his favorite athlete is cross country runner Galen Rupp.

SEAN O'BRYAN
WESTLAKE
O'Bryan was Westlake's third runner to cross the finish line at the state championships, clocking in at 15:58. He was 10th at the Marmonte league finals in 15:53. He improved his time to 15:43 at the CIF-SS prelims and ran a 14:45 on the Mount SAC rain course at the CIF-SS finals. O'Bryan is a scholar-athlete with a 4.0 weighted GPA. He enjoys swimming, listening to rock/alternative music, and eating sushi. His favorite team is Notre Dame.

ROCKY PETERSON
WESTLAKE
Peterson led the way for the Warriors in their state championship performance at Fresno. He finished in 17th place with a the time of 15:47. That came after a 12th-place showing in the CIF-SS Division 2 finals, finishing in 14:23 on the Mount SAC rain course. Peterson was second at the Marmonte league finals, clocking in at 15:33 at Agoura High. He had a time of 15:58 at the Ventura County Championships. The 5-foot-9 senior has a 3.8 GPA. His favorite band is Mumford & Sons and his favorite athlete is endurance athlete Jason Lester. Peterson's top movie is "The Dark Knight Rises" his favorite TV show is "Castle."

PATRICK THEDINGA
OAK PARK
Thedinga kept pace with Runner of the Year Sahm Bazargan just about everywhere he went. Thedinga finished second to his Oak Park teammate at the Ventura County Championships in a time of 15:27, and did the same thing at the Tri-Valley League finals in 15:46. At the CIF-SS Division 3 championships, it was Thedinga who finished ahead of Bazargan, placing fourth in 14:27 on the Mount SAC rain course. Thedinga had a fifth-place finish at the state championships in Fresno, turning in a time of 16:01. The 5-foot-7, 125-pound senior made the all-league academic team. His hobbies include playing volleyball and watching movies and sports. His favorite athlete is Bo Jackson. Other favorites include singer John Legend, "Breaking Bad" and the New York Giants.

HUGO VALDOVINOS
FILLMORE
Valdovinos led the way at the CIF State Championships in Fresno last month, allowing the Flashes to claim the Division 4 crown. He took 13th place with a time of 16:03. It was the second state title in school history. Fillmore finished third in the Southern Section, led by Valdovinos' eighth-place finish at 14:53 on the Mount SAC rain course. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound senior plans to go to UC San Diego next year. He has a 3.98 GPA. His favorite TV show is "The Simpsons," his favorite movie is "Inception" and his favorite band is One Republic. He enjoys eating tamales. His favorite team is FC Barcelona and his favorite player is Lionel Messi.
