Richard Quinn/Special to the Star Buena High’s Erinn Beattie clears 5-6 in the girls high jump at the Ventura County Track and Field Championships at Moorpark High on Friday. Beattie won the event with a jump of 5-8.

Only one question remained: How high would she go?

Holly Tokar shattered the meet record in the girls pole vault by 13 inches, bettered her own personal and county best by one inch, then took aim at a hallowed height.

With her victory in the Ventura County Track and Field championships secured at 12 feet, 7 inches, Ventura High’s standout senior took her shot at clearing 13 feet.

Turns out, that’s an achievement for another meet.
