2013 VC Star All-County Girls Track Team

 ABIGAIL SMITH  WESTLAKE  100  Smith took second place in the CIF-SS Division 2 Championships with a season-best time of 11.57 seconds, qualified for the CIF State Championships at the CIF-SS Masters Meet in 11.71 and was ninth in the state meet in 11.97. As a member of the Warriors 4x100 relay team, Smith was part of a second-place finish at the CIF-SS finals in 46.83, the fastest finals time for any Ventura County team ever. The 5-foot-6, 120-pound sophomore enjoys eating pasta and has a 3.2 GPA. Smith’s favorite TV shows are “The Big Bang Theory” and “Bates Hotel” and her favorite movie is “Fast Girls.” She also likes listening to Sleeping with Sirens. Johnson was the Ventura County champion in the 400 with a time of 56.82 seconds. She was fourth in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 finals at 56.98. Her best time in the 400 this season was 56.5 seconds and she also ran a 24.6 in the 200. The 5-foot-7, 130-pound sophomore enjoys listening to music, eating sushi and hanging out with friends. Johnson’s favorite movies are “Rush Hour 2” and “The Cookout.” Her top TV shows are “NCIS Los Angeles” and “The Voice.” Beyonce is her favorite singer. The 5-foot-5, 115-pound junior won an academic achievement award at La Reina.

 

HOLLY PETRUSSON- 800 METER RUN

LA REINA

Petrusson was fourth in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 Championships at Mount San Antonio College with a season-best time of 2:16.00. She placed fifth in the Ventura County Championships at Moorpark High behind four upper-division runners in 2:19.38, just 2.25 seconds behind the winner. The 5-foot-5, 115-pound junior won an academic achievement award at La Reina.

Baxter remains undefeated in her high school career in the 3,200 and won her third straight state championship with a time of 10 minutes, 10.71 seconds. She took sixth place in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 100 hurdles at 15.21 and was second in the 300 at 44.48, her season best. The 5-foot-3, 115-pound junior is a Newbury Park scholar-athlete who enjoys running, hiking, biking, watching movies (“Horton Hears a Who” is her favorite) and hanging out with friends. The Regents junior also won the event in the Ventura County Championships at Moorpark with a time of 44.86 seconds. Her best time of the season was 44.50. She has a 4.2 GPA and enjoys being outside. Her favorite TV show is “New Girl” and her favorite singers are Carrie Underwood and Colbie Caillat. Her favorite foods are grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate milk. Beattie’s favorite athlete is decathlete Ashton Eaton.

The Pioneers junior has a 4.2 GPA and is a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honor Society. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, going to Disneyland and lists “anything Disney” as her favorite movie. Her favorite TV show is the voice and her favorite dish is sushi.  ASHA CULHANE  OAKS CHRISTIAN  TRIPLE JUMP  The Lions junior took seventh place in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 championships at Mount San Antonio College with a leap of 36-1¾. Culhane’s personal record is 38-2. In addition to her triple jump accomplishments, Culhane has PRs of 17-9 in the long jump and 16.69 seconds in the 100 hurdles. At the Arcadia Invitational, she was 13th in the heptathlon and was part of the sprint medley relay team that was No. 4 in the nation. Culhane is a Girls State delegate, a member of the Dean’s List, a Lions scholar and an athletic prefect at Oaks Christian. The Lions junior took seventh place in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 championships at Mount San Antonio College with a leap of 36-1¾. Culhane’s personal record is 38-2. In addition to her triple jump accomplishments, Culhane has PRs of 17-9 in the long jump and 16.69 seconds in the 100 hurdles. At the Arcadia Invitational, she was 13th in the heptathlon and was part of the sprint medley relay team that was No. 4 in the nation. She took third place in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 Championships at 43-4 and eighth in the CIF-SS Masters Meet at 41-11¼. Leaupepe also excelled in the discus, with her best throw at 126-10. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound junior was named a scholar athlete and Most Valuable Thrower at Camarillo. She likes basketball and hanging out with friends. She also enjoys watching “Pretty Little Liars” and “Vampire Diaries” on TV and her top movie is “Love & Basketball.” Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Ed Sheeran are her favorite recording artists. The Lakers are her favorite team and Kobe Bryant and Skylar Diggins are her favorite players.
